Stream Ocean

Brand & website

Building an identity from the name outward

The problem

Stream Ocean had the technology and no identity. There was no name, no mark and nothing to launch with. The brand had to read as immediate and technical without losing the reason any of it exists, the biodiversity it measures.

What I did

I joined as founding designer in 2022 and built the brand from the name outward. The mark is a square window onto water, drawn on a grid derived from circle geometry. The frame the model draws around a fish is the same window at another scale, so it runs through the posts and the site. Living Coral carries the palette, for the reefs the cameras watch. In 2026 I redesigned the website as a concept, built in code but never deployed. It gives the camera, the detection and the Sentinel dashboard equal weight, and sets Archivo and DM Mono beside Stream Sans.

Outcome

The identity and the launch site shipped in 2022. The 2026 site stays a concept, recorded below from top to bottom. Its sector photographs are generated and its two testimonials are placeholders. The billboard, the posters and the camera photograph are generated too.

Lockup construction on white, drawn in coral guides: a series of circles lettered A to F on the left, and the black mark and the name stream ocean on a grid whose measures are labelled A, A/3, B, C, D and F, with a letter S at each corner for clear space.
Mark construction on white: the black square of white wave bands on a grid of equal squares in coral, with each wave's curve traced past the edge of the square.
Colour plate: six horizontal bands, Living Coral FF6F61 the tallest, then Peach, White, Cloud Grey, Onyx and Black, each named on the left with its HEX and RGB values on the right.
Stream Sans, by Numans and Jovanny, set as three large lines on Cloud Grey, with its weights 300 to 600 in small mono type below.
Archivo on white: Every fish, counted, set four times, each line wider than the last along the width axis.
DM Mono on Cloud Grey: the family name, a survey time, 22 Apr 12:20, and Acanthurus sp. as three large lines.
Five Instagram stories on black, the outer two cut by the edge: a post on diver surveys over reef footage, a Red Sea bay with the Transnational Red Sea Center, Monaco Ocean Week on the coral wave, a numbered camera stream, and a coral card titled Time.
Icon spread on coral, two rows of four on guide grids: dissolved oxygen, salinity, turbidity, pCO₂, biodiversity, fish, sensor and satellite.
A landscape billboard on the concrete wall of an underpass: on black, a Yellow Surgeonfish so large the billboard crops it, inside a coral detection-frame line labelled Yellow Surgeonfish, under the line Every fish, counted., with the stream ocean lockup top right.
Two Living Coral posters pasted side by side on a weathered concrete harbour wall above a stone quay, a rusty bollard and rope in front and sailing boats on the water to the left: each has the white wave mark large at the top, Making the invisible visible below it, and the stream ocean lockup at the foot.
The Stream Ocean camera lying on its side against black: a clear acrylic tube with an orange sleeve inside printed with the white wave mark and stream ocean, black end caps, two connectors on the left, one with a blue cap.
